While our much-loved complex is temporarily closed, we’re seriously missing the thrill of opening our doors and welcoming you for an evening of live entertainment. The team are busy planning and rescheduling so you can rest assured knowing we’ve got plenty of exciting things waiting in the wings and will be back with some showstoppers from autumn 2020.
The countdown is on until Scottish pop-rock band Texas hits the Villa Marina main stage as they kick off their 25-date tour with a gig on Saturday 3rd October.
We’ve got a variety of other events for you to enjoy too including The Bootleg Beatles, Megaslam Wrestling and The Magic of Motown. Or, for those that could do with a good giggle, and let’s face it most of us could right now, we’re thrilled to have comedians Milton Jones, Rob Beckett and Alan Carr booked to provide some much-needed light relief.
Tickets are also now on sales for what’s set to be an truly inspiring evening with Sir Ranulph Fiennes, as the first person to reach both Poles, cross the Antarctic and Arctic Ocean, and to circumnavigate the world along its polar axis he certainly has some stories to tell!
There are many more acts to look forward to before the year is out, and we’ve already begun plotting out a footprint of major events set to bring down the house in 2021 and beyond. This already includes the What’s Love Got To Do With It! A Tribute to Tina Turner and 90’s icons A1, 911, 5ive and Damage in The Boys Are Back! Our team has been busy working behind the scenes to bring entertainment back into your lives as soon as it is safe to do so and we can’t wait for it to all kick off again.
To those of you eager to buy tickets to these events, we thank you for your support and patience during these times.
For those who just can’t wait to get their theatre fix, there are some wonderful performances available online for free which you might like to explore. From the National Theatre, or, head to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Youtube channel - ‘The Shows Must Go On’ - to discover some of his unique masterpieces. It’s not quite the same as sitting in the Gaiety Theatre or Villa Marina, but it’s a good alternative for the time being.
If you’d like something different to look forward to once restrictions are lifted, don’t forget that our popular Gaiety Theatre Guided Tours are on sale. Enjoy a couple of hours taking in the Victorian grandeur, while learning about the working attributes, decor and machinery of our beautiful theatre, which is celebrating its 120th birthday this year – it’s certainly not one to be missed.
Tours are scheduled to begin on Saturday 10th October 2020, however, we’re closely monitoring the developing situation and will provide updates as and when they become available.
We’re also excited to announce that the team is working on a couple of exciting projects which will involve local singers, performers and most importantly, you. Watch this space for more details in the coming weeks…
Finally, let us take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank you to you - our customers, supporters, performers, staff, hirers and friends – for playing a crucial part in preserving the VillaGaiety magic.
Our incredible team are doing all they can to ensure the shows go on so that you can enjoy the power, freedom and joy that live entertainment can bring. When you can once again share special memories with the important people in your lives, those you are so dearly missing right now, and enjoy an evening of joy, laughter and entertainment with us.
Stay safe and please, stay at home if you can.
We will entertain you.
