Duffy & Waldo have a revamped castle and a new friend too!

Check out what's new at Dragons Castle...

Over the past week or so, Duffy and Waldo have been on a short break to catch some winter sun. They’ve now returned to brave the cold Manx winter weather and they’re not alone. They’ve brought a new friend back with them to help look after the refurbished Dragon’s Castle.

If you visited Dragon’s Castle over Christmas you might have noticed we ran our ‘Name the Knight’ competition, giving our younger customers a chance to name a brand new character and be in with a chance of winning unlimited membership to Dragon’s Castle up to the age of 7. We are delighted to announce that our randomly selected winner was Ella Ball, with her winning name: ‘Nel the Knight’. Nel will be joining Duffy & Waldo on lots of fun adventures in and around Dragon’s Castle, so make sure you keep an eye out for them all as you move around the various floors of the play area!

Whilst Duffy and Waldo were away, they’ve had the builders in and they’ve returned to a brightly decorated and revamped Dragon’s Castle. As well giving the structure and interiors of the play area a well-deserved refresh, Duffy, Waldo and their new castle-mate Nel, are all very excited to show you all the changes that have been made. The improvements have been introduced to ensure that the Dragon’s Castle is an inclusive play environment and that it is an accessible space to as many children as possible, regardless of their ability.

We are therefore excited to announce the introduction of a brand-new sensory area within Dragon’s Castle on the ground level, especially for babies, younger children and children with additional needs. As part of this new area, we’ve got some fantastic new equipment including chrome tubes, fibre optic lighting and chandeliers and some bubble stubs and beads, plus there are some comfy bean bags inside too. We hope that by introducing sensory play, this provides a fun and engaging way for both young children and children with additional needs to be positively challenged with visual, sound and tactile opportunities to help them develop certain skills and actions. Not only that but Duffy, Waldo and Nel wanted to make sure that children of all abilities can come and enjoy the social interaction of attending a soft play area too.

As well as the new sensory area, we’ve got a bigger ball pit and some shiny new mini slides on the ground level for babies and young children, a new ball pit on the second level for older kids too. We’ve got lots of colourful new theming throughout the soft play area thanks to our friends at ‘House of Play’ plus some great new bright, colourful theming in the seating/eating area courtesy of Bridson and Horrox, all artwork was put together by local design company The Thought Store.

So what are you waiting for, make sure you come on down and check out all the changes for yourself. Duffy, Waldo and Nel are excited to invite your little explorers to jump, climb, slide and swing at the Dragon’s Castle 'Pop in and Play' sessions.
